Lilac Kites
The genesis for this piece is a meditation I created for one of my mindfulness students; now adapted to @HazelAllenWrites’ prompt of being in a space between, and having a choice to make.
Lay on an often washed sheet in the middle of a grassy field your eyelids flutter closed spring lilac blowing through the breeze every slow deep breath inhale spring lilac exhale confusion on your mind inhale spring lilac exhale contusions on your heart a pile of color-crayon kites sits beside your body white ball of string still wound tight on the spool you are not in your body anymore you’re above, around swirling with the lilac flying with each kite you picture every exhaled emotion powering each kite yellow, you run with anxiety faster and faster and faster gust of wind, let loose the string it blows away and you float higher, lighter watching your body sending kites to befriend the clouds your spirit hovering swirling with every Inhale spring lilac exhale your anchors inhale spring lilac exhale your fears inhale spring lilac exhale your demons With each kite you color the sky with your light your soul dancing with the movement of the trees your body still on the smooth white sheet in the field breathing inhale spring lilac exhale confusion on your mind inhale spring lilac exhale contusions on your heart flit capriciously with the kites flirting with the birds inhale freedom exhale spring lilac inhale freedom exhale spring lilac
Beautiful work Boo
I love the amount of detail you put into this piece, and its flow! The emphasis using line repetition through some parts also really aided in its feel. Thanks for sharing! This was lovely and really captures the spirit of the prompt!
