I have a well-deserved reputation for being an optimist.
At heart, I am sunshine.
Rainbows and all their wonder
Unicorns with their magic
Cotton candy’s sticky innocence
Sprinkles of joy on the cupcake of life.
The Red Hats with their venom of what they're told to hate
The oligarchs buying favor and selling our souls
Evil’s axis running though my front yard
Dismembering our constitution limb by limb
And the complacency of those worth enough nets to save only themselves
Makes me question the core of my being; off balance and unsure. Dulled by the darkness
Lured by the light I always held desperately reaching for a spark
Light and love not anger’s burning of all that was real
