He hoped she would keep him 
still
she ran
hoping he would chase her
He ran
and ran 
Farther and closer
in circles, orbiting 
her 
never stopping
panting, slowing, 
heaving, yes
no 
stopping 
him
Leading, following, 
circling, orbiting
rising and setting 
At last
she became 
still
He ran
