Secret Self

The music starts
a hint of melody
wafting to the beat 
of a closing door

She sways
sashays away from her owner 
sheds her pale skin
and insecurities
along with her clothes

Music building
strumming, humming
supple fingers
juicy lips
she folds 
and unfolds
like an origami swan

Silveresque pole 
shimmering
long and hard
between her legs
the men 
sliding sweaty twenties   
hoping theirs
will be the next 

Smoke and steam
create a dream
the lights
a haze
she flickers
like an aurora 
ethereal 
surreal
above  
desperation
salvation

Semi closed, bloodshot eyes 
devouring her body
embodying the faces
of every woman 

Her soul
moves with the sky
until she rejoins the night
reclaiming her skin

Shopping carts
traffic lights,
she hands damp bills
out her window 
donating 
the remnants 
of her secret self
